Transition to Django

Having been working on my django based blog for some time now, (when I haven't been busy), I have finally gotten to the stage where transition is almost upon us!
I am yet to properly finish the comments system on it, as I am still unsure how to go about this, but everything else is in place, from the design, to the conversion script. The conversion script is actually quite neat. From a SQL Dump of a wordpress blog, it can successfully transform it into a python list of tuples, from which another script reads this into django.
In other news, Linode improved their value for money, so I went out and got myself one. Maybe thats where the new site will be in future :-)

Yeah, I know, unfortunately it requires a few hacks to add on some additional fields, such as email and website, and user agent..., things that Wordpress stores at the moment, and most of which I think would go well to be in the new version.

For their price vs. contention on their VPS machines, Linode aren't that attractive. Looking at their network, it's equally disappointing. I'm starting to think more and more now that Europe is starting to lead the way in this market.
For the same price as the Linode 384, you can get a 3.0GHz dedicated server all to yourself, with 2x80gig hard drives (mirrored of course), half a gig of ram, and an unmetered 100mbps connection in a DC with more than 60gbps of connectivity, mostly tier 1.
Surprisingly, though, Linode allow IRC servers on their VPS machines. Imagine an IRC server on a 40:1 VPS within a 2.2GHz box! Hahaha :)
I suggest you shop around buddy, but you already spent the dosh :)

Most of it has been converted already actually, including the comments (I suppose I have to add these two now!), at http://beta.nullis.net/blog/,
But due to changing some stuff in the .css file for http://beta.nullis.net/tv/, I haven't had time to fix up the pages yet, mainly due to uni and work.
That said, Uni is now out of the way (permanently*), so maybe I will have some time.. once I configure this Asterisk box... :)

Django actually has a generic and flexible comments app you can bolt on.
